CAT 3CP series – compact industrial and car-wash pumps

The CAT 3CP series includes compact triplex plunger pumps for professional pressure washers, vehicle-washing systems, misting installations and industrial cleaning equipment. The series uses a brass manifold, stainless-steel valve assemblies, solid ceramic plungers and replaceable high- and low-pressure seals.

UMYTEC offers the CAT 3CP1120 and CAT 3CP1140.

Model Official maximum flow Official maximum pressure Rated speed
3CP1120 15.9 l/min 152 bar 1725 rpm
3CP1140 13.6 l/min 152 bar 1725 rpm

The 1725-rpm design supports belt drive, clutch drive or installation with a flexible coupling and bell housing. High-temperature and specialist TEG configurations are also available within the wider 3CP family.

CAT 310, 340 and 350 – proven 5 Frame pumps

The CAT 310, 340 and 350 belong to the traditional CAT 5 Frame plunger-pump family. These pumps are widely used in car washes, pressure washers, industrial-cleaning equipment and misting systems.

The standard models use chrome-plated brass manifolds, stainless-steel valve assemblies, solid ceramic plungers and replaceable NBR seals. The principal difference between the CAT 310, 340 and 350 is the relationship between flow, maximum pressure and rated speed.

Model Official maximum flow Official maximum pressure Rated speed
CAT 310 15.1 l/min 152 bar 950 rpm
CAT 340 15.1 l/min 124 bar 1725 rpm
CAT 350 18.9 l/min 103 bar 1725 rpm

The CAT 340 D is offered by UMYTEC as a configuration for BKF car-wash systems, with right- and left-hand shaft variants. Its actual operating point must be confirmed from the complete pump code, nameplate and installed drive speed.

CAT also produces B- and S-series variants of the 310, 340 and 350. B-series manifolds are designed to resist chemical washout, while S-series manifolds use stainless-steel inserts in critical sealing and valve areas.

CAT 5CP series – professional pumps for washing and industrial systems

The CAT 5CP series covers a broad selection of flow and pressure combinations for professional pressure washers, industrial-cleaning equipment, misting, vehicle washing and specialist high-pressure applications.

Models include 5CP2120, 5CP2150, 5CP3105, 5CP3120, 5CP4110, 5CP5120, 5CP5140, 5CP6120 and 5CP6190. Depending on the model, the 5CP family provides approximately 8–31 l/min and pressures extending beyond 250 bar.

CAT 5CP2150W for car-wash chemicals

The CAT 5CP2150W uses a chrome-plated special W770 brass manifold developed to resist chemical erosion and manifold washout in car-wash applications.

The official CAT model specification provides a maximum flow of 18.9 l/min at 1725 rpm and a maximum pressure of 138 bar. When the pump is operated at a lower speed, the delivered flow decreases proportionally. The actual permissible operating point must be confirmed for the complete installation.

Stainless-steel valves, solid ceramic plungers and replaceable NBR seals make the 5CP2150W suitable for professional washing equipment exposed to detergents, reclaimed water and demanding operating cycles.

Performance note: CAT pump flow changes with rotational speed. Do not select a replacement using only the model name or a single advertised working point. Verify the official data sheet, actual rpm and maximum permissible pressure.

CAT 7CP series – higher-flow professional pumps

The CAT 7CP series provides higher flow than the compact 3CP and standard 5CP washing models. Depending on the version, 7CP pumps provide approximately 30–45 l/min at maximum pressures between approximately 124 and 241 bar.

Typical models include the 7CP6110CS, 7CP6160CS and 7CP6170.

Applications include high-flow industrial pressure washers, municipal equipment, misting, truck washing, mobile cleaning systems and specialist OEM units. Selected versions are available with an integrated gearbox for direct mounting to an engine.

CAT direct-drive pumps – 1CX, 2SF, 4DX, 4DNX, 4SP and 5SP

CAT produces a wide range of compact direct-drive pumps for electric motors, gasoline or diesel engines and hydraulic drives. These models are designed for portable pressure washers, compact OEM cleaning units, misting systems and smaller process installations.

The main direct-drive families include:

  • 1CX series for very low-flow misting, dosing and compact pumping systems
  • 2SF and 2SFX series for compact pressure washers and stainless-steel applications
  • 4DX and 4DNX series for commercial and industrial pressure washers
  • 4SP and 5SP series for electric-motor-driven systems requiring lower rotational speed
  • 66DX series for demanding engine-driven pressure-washing equipment

Direct-drive pumps reduce the number of transmission components but must be matched precisely to the motor or engine shaft, speed, flange, power and direction of rotation.

CAT 15 and 25 Frame pumps – industrial flow and pressure

CAT 15- and 25-frame pumps are designed for industrial systems requiring greater flow, higher pressure or more demanding materials than standard car-wash pumps.

Representative 15-frame models include:

  • CAT 1050 – 37.9 l/min at up to 152 bar
  • CAT 1530 – 59 l/min at up to 103 bar
  • CAT 1730 – approximately 59.8 l/min at up to 103 bar
  • CAT 1560 – approximately 34.1 l/min at up to 276 bar
  • CAT 1570 – approximately 22.7 l/min at up to 414 bar

Typical applications include industrial cleaning, water jetting, reverse osmosis, manufacturing processes, sewer cleaning, misting and mobile municipal systems.

CAT 35 and 60 Frame pumps – large industrial systems

The CAT 35 and 60 Frame ranges are intended for high-flow industrial and process installations. They are available with brass, nickel-aluminium-bronze, 316 stainless-steel and duplex stainless-steel manifolds.

Representative applications include reverse osmosis, desalination, offshore systems, industrial processing, municipal equipment, large misting systems, water treatment and high-capacity cleaning installations.

Example models include:

  • CAT 3501 – 37.9 l/min at up to 345 bar with a 316 stainless-steel manifold
  • CAT 3507HS – 38 l/min at up to 345 bar with a nickel-aluminium-bronze manifold
  • CAT 67070 – approximately 189 l/min at up to 138 bar in its standard continuous-duty specification
  • CAT 6775 – approximately 284 l/min at up to 83 bar
  • CAT 67102 – approximately 379 l/min at up to 69 bar

Some large-frame pumps have alternative intermittent-duty ratings. These higher operating points must not be used as continuous-duty specifications unless explicitly approved by CAT Pumps.

How to read CAT pump model designations

Unlike some European pump brands, CAT model numbers do not always directly state the metric flow and pressure. The complete model code identifies a particular frame, hydraulic configuration, manifold material, shaft arrangement and seal specification.

Model example Meaning and selection note
3CP1120 A model from the compact 3CP frame family. The digits should not be interpreted as direct metric flow and pressure values.
CAT 340 A specific 5 Frame model. “340” is the model identifier, not a 340-bar pressure rating.
CAT 350 A higher-flow model within the same traditional 5 Frame family. It is not a 350-bar pump.
5CP2150W A 5CP-frame pump with the W770 washout-resistant manifold. The “W” is important when identifying the correct manifold and service parts.
1051C The C suffix identifies a flushed-inlet-manifold configuration for additional seal cooling or lubrication.
1051D The D version uses a duplex stainless-steel manifold for demanding corrosive environments.

Additional suffixes can identify seal materials, shaft configurations, manifold variations, high-temperature modifications and specialist applications. Always use the complete model number from the pump nameplate.

CAT pump construction and spare parts

CAT triplex plunger pumps generally use solid ceramic plungers, replaceable high- and low-pressure seals, stainless-steel valves and serviceable crankcase components. The modular hydraulic section allows seals and valves to be replaced without changing the complete pump.

Typical CAT pump service components include:

  • CAT pump seal kits
  • CAT pump valve kits
  • High- and low-pressure seals or V-packings
  • O-rings and support rings
  • Solid ceramic plungers
  • Oil seals and crankcase gaskets
  • Valve seats, springs, retainers and spacers
  • Connecting rods, bearings and crankcase components

CAT data sheets normally identify the seal kit as item group #300 and the valve kit as item group #310. The exact kit number depends on the pump model and selected elastomer or packing material.

The official CAT pump service resources include data sheets, exploded views, parts lists, repair kits, service manuals and dimensional drawings.

Which CAT pump should you choose?

Choose the 3CP series for compact professional cleaning and car-wash equipment, or the CAT 310, 340 and 350 family for proven medium-flow vehicle-washing and industrial systems.

Select the 5CP2150W where improved resistance to car-wash chemicals and manifold washout is required. For greater flow or pressure, compare the broader 5CP and 7CP ranges.

Use 15-, 25-, 35- or 60-frame CAT pumps for larger industrial, process, water-treatment and high-capacity systems. Stainless-steel, duplex, nickel-aluminium-bronze, flushed-manifold and high-temperature versions must be selected according to the pumped liquid and operating environment.

Frequently asked questions about CAT Pumps

Which CAT pump is suitable for a self-service car wash?

Common options include the CAT 3CP1120, 3CP1140, CAT 340, CAT 350 and CAT 5CP2150W. Selection depends on required flow, pressure, rpm, chemical exposure, recycled-water quality and daily duty cycle.

What is the difference between CAT 340 and CAT 350?

The official CAT 340 rating is up to approximately 15.1 l/min and 124 bar at 1725 rpm. The CAT 350 provides a higher maximum flow of approximately 18.9 l/min but has a lower official maximum pressure of approximately 103 bar at 1725 rpm.

Which CAT pump is designed for approximately 950 rpm?

The CAT 310 is officially rated at 950 rpm and provides approximately 15.1 l/min at up to 152 bar. The CAT 5CP2120W is another car-wash-oriented model with a 950-rpm specification.

What is special about the CAT 5CP2150W?

The CAT 5CP2150W uses the special chrome-plated W770 brass manifold. It is designed to resist chemical erosion and manifold washout in demanding car-wash applications.

Does pump flow change when the rpm changes?

Yes. The flow of a positive-displacement plunger pump changes approximately in proportion to rotational speed. Reducing the rpm reduces the flow, while the maximum permissible pressure remains limited by the specific pump rating and available motor power.

Can a CAT pump replace an Interpump, HAWK or UDOR pump?

Possibly, but flow and pressure alone are not sufficient. Compare rpm, absorbed power, shaft diameter, keyway, rotation, mounting holes, shaft height, connection positions and overall dimensions.

How do I identify the correct CAT pump seal or valve kit?

Use the complete pump model from the nameplate and check the official parts list. Different manifold, seal-material and temperature versions may require different seal and valve kits.

Does UMYTEC provide support with CAT pump selection?

Yes. Send the required flow, pressure, rpm, motor details and complete code of the existing pump. The UMYTEC team can assist with model comparison, replacement selection and spare-part identification.

Need help selecting or repairing a CAT pump?
